I had a lot of fun putting my hot rollers video together, and have been wanting to keep playing around with mini-movies.
Yesterday, I spontaneously decided to let the iPad capture video footage of me and the kids while we did a handful of "typical" afternoon activities. Because sometimes the afternoons can drag on, and on, and on... it's fun to watch some of what I usually consider "mundane tasks", sped up. It makes me realize how much the little things, like story time and kisses, really add-up. How an afternoon condensed into 2 minutes really does seem quite productive.
It also helps shed a cheery light on the squirmy babies, the yelling and shrieking of "mom" over and over on every page in the picture book, the dripping of batter across the counter. Often those things don't feel endearing in the moment--but I love looking back and watching those little encounters. And I know they will be the ones I miss the most when all these moments fade into memories and these sweet toddlers grow up right before my eyes.
I already have a couple more ideas for a few fun videos. Even if no one else enjoys them, I know we will look back on these little clips fondly as the kids continue changing and evolving into the little people I've learned to love so much. I know the video quality isn't great, my iPad is showing it's age. Maybe we can upgrade to better equipment one day!
